Frost and sub-zero temperatures are expected in the Houston metropolitan area this weekend (January 23-26, 2026).
The schedule of weekend Masses in our parish remains unchanged. We ask each of you to assess the situation sensibly in terms of your own safety.
Those who are unable to attend Mass due to hazardous weather conditions, dangerous roads, or reasonable concerns for their safety are not required to attend Mass.
Canon law recognizes that in such circumstances this obligation does not apply. Canon 1247 establishes the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation. However, can. 1248 §2 states that when attendance at the Eucharistic celebration becomes impossible for a serious reason, such as illness or other serious cause, this obligation does not apply, and the faithful are encouraged to devote themselves to prayer individually or with their families. Dangerous travel conditions or a well-founded fear of such conditions constitute a serious reason.
